In 1957 my father was searching for a closer relationship with God. At the time he was an elder in the Presbyterian Church. The search led him to have a personal experience from God when he was filled with the Holy Spirit. Dad bought us up to have a love of Jesus. Dad continued searching for a fellowship where the full gospel was preached. In the early 60s he found that church in the Revival Centre. Bruce Mitchell
I had always talked to people of any religious persuasion to find what it was that maintained their interest in God. I really didn’t have much success in finding anything that I could pursue. When the word came that a new employee was arriving and he was from an ‘off-beat’ religious group, my interest was aroused. Within 48 hours we were talking about his “Holy Spirit experience” and miracles of healing. I was staggered and began to read the Bible. To my amazement I found the record of Jesus was of miracles of healing and that all the first followers, after his death and resurrection, were filled with the Holy Spirit and ‘spoke in tongues’. After some months of talking and reasoning I was totally convicted that God was real and that I too could have the same experience. I went to a small meeting of a group of people that had all received the Holy Spirit. It was in the lounge room of a house in Wangaratta during a time of prayer that I also received the Holy Spirit and began to speak in a new tongue. I was subsequently baptized (totally immersed in a tank of water), and have been involved with the church ever since. Over 40 years I have been blessed with good health and prosperity and have seen my wife and four children all filled with the Holy Spirit. There have been many miracles of healing in that time and I am so appreciative of all the Lord has done. Carol Greenwood
I grew up believing in God in a conventional way and attending a mainstream protestant church. I had a happy and privileged childhood, active in a range of sporting and social activities. While I was at University I came into contact with people who believed in miracles and had been filled with the Holy Ghost, speaking in tongues. I attended several church meetings, and decided to seek the Lord myself. I was baptized and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. Throughout my marriage, motherhood, and my fulfilling career, the Lord has blessed and prospered me. In times of crisis, He has strengthened and comforted us. We have experienced miracles of healing, especially when one of our sons fractured his skull in an accident. He was lying in the hospital when the Lord healed him completely. I am now a grandmother and I can testify that through all my life God has been totally faithful. Edna Barker
In 1958 two friends spoke to me about the Bible and the Holy Spirit. When I prayed with them I received and assurance that their was more to know about the ‘speaking in tongues’ experience they had told me about. The following Sunday I attended a meeting at the Revival Centre. When the pastor asked if anyone would like to be baptized, I was the first in the queue. In the prayer meeting afterwards I spoke in tongues as explained in the Bible. A wonderful experience, my life changed for the better. My family followed me through the waters of baptism. We are all filled with the Holy Spirit speaking in tongues. Twenty five years later I was operated on for cancer of the colon. It was not a success from a medical point of view but I was prayed for and I was completely healed as the Lord promised. This was 23 years ago. I have many more testimonies of my family. If we have problems we pray and the Lord answers, always. |
