RUN FOR CHANGE

Bellarine Revival Church – Run for Change

For several years, the Bellarine Assembly has supported more than 23 RCC managed Moringa plantations in Malawi. This support has included helping with the purchase of land, farming equipment, wells and agricultural education.

The plantations grow drought-resistant crops such as Moringa trees, Pigeon Peas, Cassava and Sorghum. These crops support our brother and sisters and their local communities to become more resilient during periods of drought and flooding.

However, access to water remains a major challenge. In some locations, the nearest water source is up to two kilometres away. Saints currently carry large buckets of water from these sources to their plantations to keep their crops growing.

On 31 October, we held a trail marathon along the Surf Coast in Victoria, Australia, to raise funds to install water bores at plantations.

They walk for water. We run to make change.

A number of our saints took on the full 42.2km trail marathon, while others, including some of our younger members, ran distances ranging from 5km to 21km.

It was a wonderful day of fellowship. Supporters lined the course to cheer on the runners, volunteers kept them fuelled at the aid stations, and we finished the day together with a BBQ at the finish line.

Thanks to the generosity and support of everyone involved, we have raised over $15,000 AUD. This money will go towards installing water bores.

With the upcoming El Niño weather season expected to bring further challenges, having access to a reliable water supply will make a significant difference. It will help the saints water their crops during difficult weather conditions.

A huge thank you to everyone who ran, volunteered, cheered, donated and supported this event. Your generosity is helping make a practical difference in the lives of our brother and sisters in Malawi.
